Louche\lo͞oSH\adj 1: Disreputable in a rakish or appealing way ‘the louche world of the theater’, 2: decadent, of questionable taste or morality “By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn’t want your daughter to associate with.” Duke Ellington
Yep, our name is a pun – it’s a nod to Billy Strayhorn’s ‘Lush Life’ and the late nights of jazz players & habitués. Louche Life Radio is dedicated to the effervescent side of jazz – music that raises goose bumps, makes you dance, laugh, and sometimes even cry!
We highlight the stunning caliber and vitality of today’s jazz. For anyone who thinks jazz belongs in a museum and the great singers disappeared after Ella, Frank, Billie, Dinah, & Mel, listening to our stunning array of smoking bands, swinging voices, sinuous vamps, and hypnotic polyrhythms will be a real eye opener. There’s an extraordinary renaissance in the world of jazz these past few years, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Jazz is alive & kicking – come on through and join us in the groove!
